I'm Arpit Khatri.
Based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, I'm a textile designer. I work across handloom weaving, Ajrakh block printing, and surface pattern design — pairing traditional craft with contemporary colour. I'm passionate about natural dyes, sustainable fabric, and telling stories through cloth.

I'm a textile designer with a practice rooted in craft and colour, shaped over 8+ years spent between design studios, artisan clusters, and my own worktable. My work moves between handloom weaving, hand block printing, and contemporary surface pattern design.
I care deeply about natural dyes and sustainable fabric, working closely with weavers and printers to keep traditional techniques alive while giving them a fresh, modern voice.
Every collection begins with a story — a memory, a landscape, a texture — translated into motif, repeat, and cloth that people can live with and wear.

Lead Textile Designer @ Studio Indigo
2021 - Present
Lead the seasonal print & weave collections for apparel and home. Direct colour stories, develop repeats, and work hand-in-hand with Ajrakh block printers and natural-dye masters in Kutch.

2019 - 2021
Designed print collections for export buyers across Europe. Built seamless repeats, colourways, and tech packs, and translated trend research into commercial ranges.

Weave Design Intern @ Heritage Handlooms
2018 - 2019
Worked on the pit-loom floor developing dobby weaves and Ajrakh-inspired samples. Learned yarn counts, warp planning, and natural indigo dyeing directly from master craftspeople.
